Text: Judges 6:25–26 (KJV)
"And it came to pass the same night, that the Lord said unto him, Take thy father's young bullock... and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the grove that is by it: And build an altar unto the Lord thy God..."
📖 Introduction: What Is an Evil Altar?
An evil altar is a spiritual platform where covenants are established, sacrifices are made, and demonic powers are invoked against individuals, families, or territories. These altars may be physical or spiritual—raised by ancestors, witchcraft agents, occultic groups, or even through personal sin and idolatry.
Altars are places of transaction—whether divine or demonic. If God’s altars release blessings, then evil altars are responsible for bondage, delay, confusion, failure, and spiritual attacks.
⚔️ Signs You Are Under the Influence of an Evil Altar
-
Repeated patterns of failure in your life or family
-
Chronic barrenness, poverty, or sickness with no medical explanation
-
Seeing yourself in ancestral homes or shrines in dreams
-
Sudden hatred, rejection, or loss of favour without cause
-
Constant spiritual attacks, nightmares, or oppression
💥 Biblical Examples of Evil Altars
-
Gideon was commanded by God to tear down the altar of Baal in his father’s house before he could become Israel’s deliverer (Judges 6:25–26).
-
Jeroboam raised an altar that led Israel into idolatry and brought divine judgment (1 Kings 13:1–5).
-
The prophet Elijah confronted and destroyed the altar of Baal on Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18).
🙏🏾 The Power of Prayer Against Evil Altars
Prayer is a spiritual weapon that tears down evil altars and raises godly altars of righteousness. When you engage in violent, targeted prayers, the legal ground of the enemy is broken, and demonic powers lose their hold.
Isaiah 54:17 – “No weapon formed against thee shall prosper...”
Jeremiah 1:10 – “See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down...”
🔨 Keys to Destroying Evil Altars in Prayer
-
Repentance – Close all doors opened through sin (Psalm 66:18).
-
Renunciation – Break all evil covenants knowingly or unknowingly entered into.
-
Command destruction of any evil altar speaking against your life.
-
Raise a new altar to the Lord through praise, worship, and sacrificial giving.
-
Declare Scripture boldly – Speak the Word of God into the atmosphere.
✝️ Powerful Declarations
-
“Every evil altar raised against my destiny, catch fire and be destroyed, in Jesus’ name!”
-
“I break and loose myself from every ancestral covenant by the blood of Jesus!”
-
“I raise the altar of the Lord in my life, my family, and my territory!”
🔚 Conclusion
It is not enough to wish evil altars away—you must war in prayer, guided by the Word and led by the Spirit. Just as Gideon couldn’t rise until he pulled down the altars in his father’s house, your elevation may be tied to spiritual demolition. Rise today with holy anger and tear down every altar speaking against your progress. Your freedom is non-negotiable!
