Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, born on July 15, 1957, in Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria, is a distinguished Nigerian pastor, scientist, and academic. He is the founder and General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), a Pentecostal denomination known for its emphasis on deliverance and spiritual warfare.
Early
Life and Education
Olukoya's
early education began at St. John's CAC Primary School in Akure, after which
his family relocated to Lagos, where he attended St. Jude's Primary School,
Ebute Metta. He proceeded to Methodist Boys' High School, Lagos, for his
secondary education. In 1976, he gained admission to the University of Lagos
(UNILAG) to study Microbiology, graduating with a first-class degree—the first
in that department—with the highest GPA recorded at the time. He furthered his
studies in the United Kingdom, earning a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from the
University of Reading.
Scientific
Career
Upon
returning to Nigeria, Olukoya joined the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research
(NIMR) in Yaba, Lagos, contributing significantly to the field of genetics and
biotechnology. He has published over 70 scientific papers and is recognized as
the first Nigerian scientist to clone genes. His innovations include the
development of "DogiK," a variant of the traditional Nigerian food
"ogi," enhanced to control diarrhea and improve nutritional value. In
December 2022, he was appointed as a professor of biotechnology at Mountain Top
University, a private institution he founded in 2015.
Ministry
and MFM
In
1989, Olukoya founded the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) in
Yaba, Lagos. The ministry, which began as a prayer group, has grown into a
global network with branches in over 120 countries. MFM is known for its focus
on deliverance, spiritual warfare, and intense prayer sessions, often referred
to as "Holy Ghost fireworks." The church emphasizes personal holiness
and spiritual discipline, with teachings that address ancestral curses,
foundational issues, and demonic influences

Dr.
Olukoya is a prolific author, having written over 250 books on Christian
living, deliverance, and spiritual warfare. Notable titles include "Prayer
Rain," "Deliverance from Spirit Husband and Spirit Wife," and
"The Jehu's Prayers." He is also a composer and musician, with songs
such as "Oke Nla Sidi" and "Gbekele Jesu," which are
integral to MFM's worship services.

Dr.
Olukoya is married to Elizabeth Folasade Olukoya, and they have a son. His life
and ministry continue to impact many within and outside Nigeria, combining
scientific acumen with spiritual leadership.
